Why have Transforamtion Education in Sierra Leone?

Ten years of war (1991 – 2001) had a tremendous impact on Sierra Leone’s already struggling educational system.

Sierra Leone’s primary education rates are amongst the lowest in the world.

-Only 50% of the teachers are trained and qualified.

-The most common method of classroom management is carrying and using a stick on students.

-Their teaching methods focus only on cognitive education, neglecting development of the whole child, including spiritual, social, emotional, and physical development .

-Teachers need encouraged. The average student to teacher ratio is 50 to 1. Many teachers work without pay.

Project Aim

To introduce and pervade new learning and management methods through the primary school level in order to improve the quality of education and increase the holistic development of children
